Priozersky Lesokombinat

A North-West timber producer rooted in the Leningrad region itself — the closest strong local alternative for buyers north of Saint Petersburg.

Why it ranks second for an SPB project

If this ranking measured raw national prestige, Priozersky Lesokombinat would not place this high. Because it measures the overlap of glulam capability and genuine Saint Petersburg delivery, the firm's location is its single biggest asset: it is based in the Leningrad region itself, not several hundred kilometres away. For a site north of the city, that shortens logistics, simplifies site visits and tends to keep delivery costs down.

It sits behind Vologodskoe Zodchestvo because its specialist-editorial footprint and aggregated review volume are thinner, and because its catalogue leans more towards timber supply than fully managed turnkey houses. For the right project, though — especially in the Priozersk, Vyborg and northern-Karelian-isthmus corridor — it is a credible first call.

Production and regional roots

The firm operates its own sawmill and timber production in the Priozersk district, drawing on the North-West's softwood resource. Owning the upstream supply gives it a cost and scheduling position that resellers cannot match, and the local labour and transport network is well suited to projects across the northern Leningrad region.

Buyers tell us the most common use case is a glulam or combined timber house on a plot in the lakes-and-forest belt north of the city, where a regional producer's familiarity with local logistics and ground conditions is worth as much as a brand name.

What to check before shortlisting

Because the firm's strength is regional supply rather than national marketing, a buyer should confirm the exact scope on offer: whether the quote is for engineered timber only, for a weather-tight shell, or for a fully finished turnkey house. Pricing transparency and a written warranty should be requested and read in full before any deposit, as our methodology recommends for every firm in this segment.

What we have not independently verified

Current glulam-line throughput, the share of revenue from turnkey houses versus raw timber sales, and warranty practices. The firm's regional roots are clear from public sources; the operational detail behind them is not fully public.
